COUNT THE COST

SO LIKEWISE, WHOSOEVER BE OF YOU THAT FORSAKETH NOT ALL THAT HE HATH, HE CANNOT BE MY DISCIPLE.

LUKE 14:33

Indecisive people can easily wear down one’s patience. They never seem to be able to commit to a definite yes or no. Could it be that such people were wearing on Jesus’ nerves too? His plain instructions to anyone who wanted to follow Him was to give the matter careful thought because there would be a cost involved.

We can either cling to our material possessions as if they were really ours forever, or we can acknowledge the fact that all we have is actually God’s anyway. We can’t fret over possessions and choose to follow Jesus at the same time. That would be like trying to learn to swim while still holding onto the pool side. To swim we must turn loose and have hands free. Likewise, we can’t hold onto our stuff and have free hands to lift to God.

We must choose which it will be: Let go of all that hinders a close relationship with our Father or cling to the priority of worldly things and experience broken fellowship with Him.

FATHER, I CHOOSE LIFE WITH YOU!
